DIANA BOURNE ARTON
“My style is energetic and colourful”.
Di is a contemporary artist living in North Yorkshire. Roaming freely over moors and surrounding countryside provides endless material. Working in the studio and in life classes provides the rest.
“My inspiration is drawn from the nature that surrounds me, I enjoy experimenting but there is a recurring theme in my work with water. Colour is all important, a flash, or spark in this monochrome world. The image is not always apparent but that is part of the fun. I enjoy mixed medium, it gives the freedom to use all the tools in the box”.
Di enjoys travelling and this is reflected through colour and image, the first part of the recent journey started in Lyme Regis.
The beginnings.
Di had an inspirational art teacher whilst at school, and when she left started a foundation course. But she soon had to give this up to make ends meet (although there was an element of her creative flair in all her jobs- shirt maker, cook, architect’s assistant and toy box designer).
So it wasn’t until much later, and after raising a family, that she found the time to focus on her passion and completed her HND in fine art at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2000. She has also studied with Robin Child, Brian Pedley, Doug Wales, Jonathan Ellis, Gordon Broadhurst and John Skinner. R.A.
